Student Grievance Cell

The Student Grievance Cell at Morazha co-operative Arts and science College serves as a formal mechanism for students to voice and resolve their complaints regarding academic, administrative, or personal matters. These committees operate according to guidelines set by higher education bodies like the University Grants Commission (UGC), The Department of Higher Education , Kerala and The Directorate of Collegiate Education.

Objectives of the Student Grievance Cell :

  • Promote a healthy and fair environment: The cell ensures a positive and conflict-free educational atmosphere by promoting cordial relationships between students, teachers, and staff.
  • Investigate and address complaints: The primary role is to receive and investigate grievances to determine their merit. The cell looks into all complaints lodged by students and takes appropriate and timely action.
  • Encourage open communication: It provides a confidential platform where students can express their problems and suggestions freely without fear of victimization.
  • Ensure confidentiality: The cell is responsible for handling grievances with sensitivity and maintaining the confidentiality of the complainant, especially in delicate matters, to ensure their safety and privacy.

Activities and Initiatives:

  • Academic issues: Concerns related to examination results, attendance, evaluation bias, unfair grading, or delays in receiving academic documents like mark sheets and certificates.
  • Administrative grievances: Complaints about administrative policies, fees and other payments, transport services, or the issuance of ID cards.
  • Faculty-related concerns: Addressing instances of misbehavior, unfair treatment, or lack of support from teachers or other staff members.
  • Infrastructure and facilities: Handling issues concerning basic amenities and facilities, such as the condition of classrooms, labs, libraries, hostels, canteens, and sanitation.
  • Personal issues: Mediating peer conflicts, addressing bullying, and handling other matters affecting a student's well-being on campus.
  • Complaint lodging: A student submits a written, verbal, or online complaint to the cell with the necessary supporting documents.
  • Investigation: The cell registers the complaint and conducts a fair investigation by gathering facts, speaking with the concerned parties, and reviewing relevant documents.
  • Resolution: The cell presents its findings and suggests appropriate remedial action. It works toward resolving the issue within a specified timeframe, often in collaboration with other departments.
  • Follow-up: The cell ensures that the agreed-upon solution is implemented effectively and may follow up with the student and the involved department until the issue is fully resolved.
